The Detroit Lions and San Diego Chargers square off as the NFL season kicks off. The game features an interesting matchup between two rookie running backs. The Chargers Melvin Gordon and the Lions Ameer Abdullah were two of the top running backs in the 2015 NFL Draft.
It still remains to be seen how each team will utilize their new backs. Gordon had a slow start in the preseason while Abdullah looked impressive. Both teams have additional running backs and will likely look to distribute the carries between them. Danny Woodhead figures to be a big part of the Chargers offense as well while Joique Bell is likely to get a good amount of carries for the Lions.
The game will be broadcast in both the Detroit and San Diego markets on FOX. It kicks off at 3:05 CT/1:05 PT.
