Pound for pound champ Floyd Mayweather defends his perfect record, and his legacy, when he takes on Andre Berto tonight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather (48-0, 26 KOs) enters tonight’s contest a tremendous favorite to win in Vegas and on online sportsbooks, and most insiders aren’t giving Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) more than a puncher’s chance.
Berto is a strong, knockout puncher with good speed and a reliable chin. But between Floyd’s impenetrable defense and his advantage in reach, ring smarts- and virtual every department- the fringe contender will have his work cut out for him tonight.

Andre Berto, a two-time world champion, was last in action with victories over Josesito Lopez and Steve Upsher Chambers. Prior to those wins, the 32-year-old from Winter Haven, Florida had suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Jesus Soto Karass and Robert Guerrero.
“I felt like I went through what I went through for a reason,” Berto said via press release. “My time is now. There’s no better day than the present…You definitely do not want to miss this one.”
One of today’s most recognizable and decorated athletes, 38-year-old Floyd Mayweather Jr is coming off one of his most anticipated fights, routing Manny Pacquiao in May.
Insisting tonight will be his last fight, the Grand Rapids, Michigan native, who holds victories over 22 world champions including icons Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, and Juan Manuel Márquez, will be looking to secure himself a place in boxing history by matching Rocky Marciano’s undefeated retirement record of 49-0.
“September 12th is my last dance,” Mayweather said when announcing tonight’s fight. “On September 13 I just want to sit back and watch some football.”
On the line tonight will be Mayweather’s WBC and WBA welterweight world titles.
On the evening’s undercard: Roman Martinez takes on Orlando Salido for the WBO junior lightweight world title, Badou Jack makes the first defense of his WBC super middleweight world title against George Groves and Jhonny Gonzalez takes on Jonathan Oquendo in a ten-rounder.
