Seahawks vs. Rams: Odds, Point Spread & Over-Under

(Getty)

The Seattle Seahawks have owned the St. Louis Rams over the last decade, going 17-3 in the previous 20 head-to-head matchups. But while Seattle is still very much the superior team, the gap is beginning to thin.

Oddsmakers appear to recognize that fact, as the Hawks are favored by only four points heading into their Week 1 matchup at St. Louis.

Here’s everything you need to know about the betting information, per OddsShark.com, as well as a prediction:

While much of the attention will focus on Kam Chancellor’s absence, the Hawks aren’t short on talented playmakers on defense. Bobby Wagner, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas and Michael Bennett are still there, while rookie Frank Clark looks like the real deal. Against a Rams offense that wants to emphasize the run game but will be without Todd Gurley and has Tre Mason battling a hamstring problem, Seattle will be fine even if Chancellor doesn’t show up.

On the other side of the ball, though, St. Louis can cause problems.

Featuring Robert Quinn, Chris Long, Aaron Donald, Nick Fairley and Michael Brockers, the Rams’ elite NFL defensive line should terrorize Seattle’s shaky offensive line and force the ‘Hawks’ offense out of rhythm.

Ultimately, Seattle has the better overall defense, as well as the offensive weapons in Marshawn Lynch, Jimmy Graham and Tyler Lockett to win the game, but St. Louis–especially at home, where they have won two of the last three against the Seahawks–will keep it close and cover the spread.

Prediction: Seahawks 17, Rams 14
