Day 5 of the 2015 US Open sees both Williams sisters in 3rd Round action. Venus is second up on Arthur Ashe to face no.12 seed Belinda Bencic, while younger sister Serena continues her quest for a Calendar Year Grand Slam against fellow American Bethanie Mattek-Sands. Nationality is about all Williams and her opponent have in common when it comes to tennis: in 14 attempts this is the first time Mattek-Sands has made it into the 3rd round.
Elsewhere, Novak Djokovic faces Italian Andreas Seppi earlier in the day, while Rafa Nadal also has Italian competition, as he squares off against Fabio Fognini in the prime time slot on Arthur Ashe. Canada’s Euginie Bouchard will have a busy day Friday: she faces Dominika Cibulkova in the singles on Louis Armstrong, before playing a 1st Round Mixed Doubles tie with Nick Kyrgios later in the afternoon.
