Titans fans breathe easy. He’s going to be ok.
Marcus Mariota has a sprained MCL, suffered during a low hit last week from Dolphins end Olivier Vernon. His status for this week against Atlanta is currently unclear, and Mariota will try to practice later this week.
Was Mariota injured on purpose? Some Titans think so, but Mariota says he didn’t think it was malicious at all. If he can’t go, Zach Mettenberger will start under center for the Titans.
It’s a nice break for Atlanta, who are on a long break after losing to New Orleans last Thursday. The Falcons are rejuvenated under new coach Dan Quinn, and they’re doing it on both sides of the ball. Quinn came from Seattle as a defensive coach, and it shows in Atlanta’a ten turnovers. His secret weapon is on offense, and it’s not longer a big secret. Devonta Freeman has been lighting up box scores, and his nine rushing touchdowns almost double the next closest rusher (Murray with 5).
