Welcome to October.
After an end-of-the-season run that was more mess than organized chaos, the Houston Astros and New York Yankees will square off in a must-win battle for the AL Wild Card on Tuesday night.
The Yankees will pitch Masahiro Tanaka while Houston will throw Dallas Keuchel on short rest.
New York earned the one-game home field advantage after the Astros lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon and while playing at home is nice, it’s hardly a guarantee of anything. The Yankees are 15-19 at home since the start of August and the Bronx Bombers have struggled in their matchups against Keuchel.
The Astros ace, and Cy Young front-runner, threw 16 scoreless innings in two wins against New York this season. Keuchel notched his 20th victory of the year on Friday as Houston cruised to a 21-5 victory over the Diamondbacks, a franchise record for single-game runs.
First pitch for the one-game playoff battle is slated for 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN. Don’t have a TV on-hand to catch the matchup? Don’t even worry about it. Here’s how to watch online and on mobile:
