Update: ESPN reported that Baylor fears that Seth Russell will miss the rest of the season. Jarrett Stidham is expected to be the Bears quarterback moving forward.
The Baylor Bears rolled to a 45-27 victory over Iowa State but received bad news after the game. Baylor tweeted out that star quarterback Seth Russell has a broken bone in his neck. Russell left the game late in the fourth quarter.
There has been no timetable released on the injury and the Bears fortunately have a bye week coming up. Russell has already thrown for 1907 yards and 27 touchdowns. He will see a specialist later this week.
With a broken bone in his neck, it seems likely he will miss some time. Jarrett Stidham would play at quarterback for the Bears if Russell is forced to miss games. According to Yahoo Sports, Stidham is a true freshman who was a four-star recruit out of Stephenville, Texas.
Stidham received offers from a number of teams including Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Ole Miss and Ohio State. He has thrown for 319 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.
