Barcelona has been doing just fine this season, even without Lionel Messi in the lineup. Without the Argentine, who is recovering from a knee injury, the Barcelona scoring has been picked up by the dual-threat of Neymar and Luis Suarez.
The duo were on form again Sunday, as they combined for three goals in the 3-0 victory over Villareal. The lasting story will be the game’s final goal, a beautiful piece of work by Neymar after fielding a pass from Suarez in the penalty area in the 85th minute.
In one fluid motion, Neymar chested the pass and brought to his left foot, where he flicked it above his head to his opposite side. Without missing a beat, Neymar spun around and met the ball with his opposite foot, firing a low shot into the back of the net.
The score raises Neymar’s total to 13 goals in 11 La Liga matches this season. With the win, Barcelona stays ahead of Real Madrid in the La Liga standings.
