Second Half Recap

46′: Madrid tried to be aggressive right at the start of the second half, but Marcelo’s near-post shot was off the mark. He’s had the best game of any Madrid player today.

49′: Madrid getting closer, as a long shot by James forced a diving save from Bravo.

51′: Save by Navas on a blistering free kick by Neymar. Barcelona had an abundance of chances in the first half, but need stay attacking against

53′: GOAL! Andres Iniesta has already made his mark on this game, but he’s made it official with a beautful strike to put Barca three goals ahead. Iniesta played it into Neymar, who dropped a back heel in the perfect place for the 31-year old Spaniard. He’s been unstoppable in today’s match, and Barca are comfortably in front at the Bernabeu.

59′: If three goals wasn’t enough for Madrid to deal with…

68′: Bravo! A burst of speed from Bale gives Madrid space, and he drops a spot-on ball to Ronaldo’s feet in the penalty area. Bravo threw up a paw, and was able to slap the ball away to keep his clean sheet.

74′: GOAL! It’s all over at the Bernabeu. Suarez chips Navas, and the blowout is on. Suarez and Neymar have scored all but one of Barca’s last 21 goals.

85′: Frustrations mounting for Madrid, as Isco has been shown a straight red. A reckless challenge on Neymar resulted in an early shower, but elicited a cheer from the remainig fans at the Bernabeu. At least he’s trying.

90′: It’s over. Barcelona have a convincing win, and now lead Madrid by six points in the table. Neymar and Suarez were sublime, but my Man of the Match is undoubtedly Andres Iniesta.

Match Preview

Ronaldo may be 30 and Messi may be rehabbing a knee injury, but it’s still El Clasico. With three points the table separating these teams, a Barcelona victory could create a wide gap early in the La Liga calendar. According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid is ready to fire manager Rafa Benitez if his team falls at home on Saturday.

Benitez will get a boost Saturday if Karim Benzema is ruled fit enough to return to the lineup. The French attacker has been vital in past Clasicos, particularly in holding possession and distributing the ball to Ronaldo or Bale.
