Barcelona’s run of dominance slowed this week, when they were held to 1-1 draws in both a league match with Valencia and a Champions League match with Leverkusen. We’d hardly call two draws a slump, but it’s the end of an eight=game unbeaten run across all competitions. Now they’ll host Deportivo, the last team to come away with points at Camp Nou.
Deportivo stole a point with a 2-2 draw in their last visit, but that came on the final day of last season. In this campaign Deportivo have been a pleasant surprise, sitting only 12 points behind Barcelona in the table. They’re unbeaten in their last five matches, led by 10 goals on the season from Lucas.
If Barcelona win today, it would guarantee them the top spot in La Liga through Christmas. It’d be a big boost before Wednesday, when the Blaugrana head to Japan for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Today’s match starts at 10:00 a.m. Eastern and will be available on beIN Sports in the USA.
