Liverpool have already advanced to the knockout stage of Europa League, but a win over Swiss side Sion would give them the top spot in Group B. That would go a long way in the next round, when eight teams from Champions League join the competition.
Liverpool will be without Daniel Sturridge, who is once again sidelined with an injury. The 26-year old, who has been on and off the field throughout his career, appeared in Liverpool’s League Cup match with Southampton and scored two goals. But after coming on as substitute in Sunday’s match at Newcastle, Sturridge limped off again and is now dealing with a hamstring injury.
The injuries are frustrating to Sturridge, but it’s also getting to manager Jurgen Klopp. After a foot problem sidelined Sturridge in late November, Klopp told reporters that Sturridge need to learn “what is serious pain and what is only pain.
