A division is up for grabs Sunday, when the Texans and Colts break their tie in the standings. Both teams are 4-2 against the spread in their last six games, but changes to the quarterback position throws off the numbers. The Colts get a slight home-field advantage, as they’re a two-point favorite according to OddsShark.com.

Both teams have been covering, and both teams have been hitting the under. The total for this game has been set at 42 points, and that might be a little high for a clash between backup passers. Historically the Texans have struggled to score in the final month of the season, and their point total has gone under in seven of their last nine games in December.

The last time these teams met, the Colts got a resurgence from former Texans WR Andre Johnson. The veteran caught six balls for 77 yards and two scores en route to a 27-20 Colts victory. In the eight games since then, Johnson has never had more than four catches in a game and has scored only once.

In a battle of backups, the wide receivers suffer the most. But that’s no guarantee for DeAndre Hopkins, who has caught passes in bunches regardless of who is under center. If Yates can consistently feed his big target, the Texans could have an offensive edge.

The OddsShark Computer is projecting a 20.8-19.3 Texans victory.
