Is this the New York Jets squad New York Jets fans have been waiting for?

After several seasons of disappointment, Gang Green might have found the team under first-year head coach Todd Bowles, thanks to a defense that hits hard and an offense that has found its rhythm with veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, surprisingly, leading the charge.

Now, the Jets look to stay focused (and keep their postseason hopes alive) with a matchup against the Tennessee Titans and they can’t afford to look beyond Sunday afternoon. Still, there’s reason to be confident and most of them rest in New York’s status as 7.5-point favorites according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.

Why? Easy. Offense. Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker have quietly become one of the most impressive one-two receiving punches in the entire league and their height, at least a three-inch cushion, over the Titans defensive backs could be more than enough to help break things open on Sunday afternoon.

The Jets have also been incredibly good at home this fall, going 6-3 ATS in their last nine games at MetLife and 4-2 SU in their last six games at home. There’s also a bit of history to add to that confidence. New York is 7-2 ATS and 6-3 SU in its last nine games when playing the Titans.

Meanwhile, the Titans don’t have quite as much betting consistency to create any kind of confidence heading into the matchup. Even after last week’s win, Tennessee is 1-4-1 ATS in its last six games. It’s been even worse on the road. The Titans are 2-10 SU in their last 12 games away from home and 2-5 SU in their last seven games on the road against the Jets.

The total for Sunday afternoon’s Tennessee and New York tilt is set at 43.5 points according to the sportsbooks. The total has gone OVER in four of the Jets last six games at home and OVER in four of the last five games they’ve played against Tennessee.

The OddsShark computer is predicting an 27 – 18.4 victory for New York.
