USA is making history in hosting Copa América, and they’ll have to go coast-to-coast if they want to win.
USMNT will play the tournament’s opening match in Santa Clara, at Levi’s Stadium against a to-be-named opponent. The final, held June 26th, is across the country at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
In the 100 years of Copa América, the tournament has never been held outside of South America. Now in the 100th edition, 16 teams will participate in 10 cities across the United States. Copa América has never been won by anyone other than a South American team, but the host nation usually puts up a strong fight. The tournament was won by host Chile in 2015.
As hosts, USA have been automaticaally seeded into Group A. The full tournament field isn’t set, but the four top seeds have been announced and their game dates scheduled.
Here is USA’s group stage schedule:
June 3 in Santa Clara (Levi’s Stadium)
June 7 in Chicago (Soldier Field)
June 11 in Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field)
