For the first time in five years, Brett Favre threw a football on network TV.
He almost killed Jimmy Fallon.
Favre was the second guest on the Tonight Show on Wednesday, where he talked about his upcoming show on NFL Network and his recent retirement ceremony. After the chat, Favre and Fallon got up and prepared to play “The Tonight Show Throwdown”, which can be compared to skeet shooting with footballs instead of shotguns.
As they got into position, Fallon told Favre that Drew Brees was the record-holder for the game. Favre responded, “He’s a much more accurate passer than me… I throw it harder.”
When they were about to start, Fallon asked Favre if he was ready. Favre was candid, responding “No. I haven’t thrown in five years.”
The rust definitely showed during the game, as Favre flung footballs all over the stage. Fallon didn’t help much with his plate-flinging, but Favre was off the mark on most of his throws.
It’s good to see Favre back in the fold, and I hope it’s the beginning of a long showbiz career. As for sports, he should probably stick to hunting.
