Stoke may not be in contention for the Premier League title, but they still have a shot at hardware this season. With a good result over Liverpool today, City has a strong chance to advance to the Capital One Cup final. Thses two teams wil play two legs, and the winner on aggregate will meet the winner of the Everton-Manchester City matchup.

Liverpool had success at the start of Jurgen Klopp’s managerial era, but the team has sputtered as injuries have piled up. The most frustrating of those injuries is Daniel Sturridge, who suffered yet another setback in training and is still not close to match fitness.

Stoke may be 10th in the BPL table, but Mark Hughes is confident in his club’s form. The squad have won six of their last ten matches in all competitions, including recent wins over Everton and Manchester United. Liverpool has also won two of three games, but they were narrow one-goal wins over Leicester and Sunderland.
