The 2016 Royal Rumble is so close that we can already hear the countdown for the 1st Superstar to enter the ring. To get you on board with who’s fighting who, this preview of the entire PPV is here to serve that very purpose. There’s a good amount of undercard bouts that will hopefully lead in perfectly to the show’s marquee battle royal. Here’s our extensive preview piece on each and every announced matchup that will take place on the January 2016 PPV/special event, WWE Royal Rumble 2016.
Darren Young and Damien Sandow vs. The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) vs. The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) vs. Mark Henry and Jack Swagger (Fatal Four-Way Tag Team Match For Two Spots in The Royal Rumble Match)
Predictions & Winners: Man…two of these teams are extremely odd pairings. If you’re looking at the tandems of Darren Young/Damien Sandow and Mark Henry/Jack Swagger with a confused look on your face, we completely understand. Since this match is completely random, we get the feeling the eventual winners of this Fatal-Four Way bout will be random as well. We’re gonna go out on a limb here and place our bets on Darren Young and Damien Sandow. The Dudley Boyz have been taking more losses than wins lately and we don’t see that trend ending here. The Ascension eat pins all the damn time and that trend shall continue here. Henry and Swagger seem to be lost causes, so there going to be there just to be there. Darren Young and Damien Sandow have some upside and youth to them, which are two traits that make for entertaining Royal Rumble entrants. Yeah, those two guys are winning here.
The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods) (c) vs. The Usos (Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso) (WWE Tag Team Championship)
Predictions & Winners: The New Day seem to be untouchable, unbeatable and flat out entertaining. They’ve bested several tag teams during their reigns as WWE Tag Team Champions, but they recently took an L from The Usos. That loss set up this title match encounter between two of the hottest tag teams in WWE today. Big E and Kofi will be the ones to represent their hilarious stable against the Samoan twins Jimmy and Jey. Like most of their previous in-ring squabbles, there’s going to lots of high-flying and interference from Xavier Woods (with no trombone, sadly). Our best bet is to go with The New Day, right? Exactly. New Day’s taking the win here, by hook or by crook.
Charlotte (c) (with Ric Flair) vs. Becky Lynch (WWE Divas Champion)
Predictions & Winner: Charlotte has fully embraced her inner Flair with her Hall of Fame father by her side. Her former bestie Becky Lynch learned the hard way that sometimes your best friend can turn into your worst enemy. Becky has gotten the WWE Universe on her side now that Charlotte has become a full-blown heel who takes any opportunity to get the win. Both women will put on a satisfying title match here. Something tells us the very same person who’s aided Charlotte the most will also be her downfall during this match. Ric Flair will involve himself somehow and try to cheat on his daughter’s behalf, but it will backfire and result in Becky Lynch becoming the new Divas Champion.
