Daniel Sturridge came on as a substitute for Liverpool during their FA Cup Replay earlier this week, and his performance could earn him a start today when the Reds take on Aston Villa. Sturridge got a solid 60 minutes in a last-second loss to West Ham, but looked fit and dangerous in possession.
Sturridge could return to the lineup, but Joe Allen will be the latest Red to miss time. Allen suffered a hamstring injury against West Ham and is expected to miss one month.
It comes at a time when Liverpool have been below average, winning just once in their last six league matches. Normally a match with Aston Villa would be respite, but Remi Garde’s men are in their best form of the season. Villa are eight points deep in relegation, but have only lost one of their previous five league fixtures.
