United has struggled against Chelsea recently and has been even worse at Stamford Bridge, but things are trending in their favor heading into Sunday’s meeting. United are in some of their best form of the season, having scored three goals in consecutive matches. You could argue that Wayne Rooney is BPL’s hottest striker, having scored seven goals in his last eight games across all competitions.
But LVG has yet to defeat Chelsea during his time as United manager, and the side have not beaten Chelsea in six Premier League games. Even worse, United have one just once in their last 13 trips to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea may still have dreams of playing European football next year, but Guus Hiddink’s team are running out of time to make up ground in the table. Chelsea has the league’s longest unbeaten streak at 10 games, but it’s been over seven weeks since their most recent league win at Stamford Bridge. They’ve won just three matches during the streak, and are still ten points away from West Ham and the top six in the table.
