Brazil will take on Paraguay short-handed tonight, as Neymar will serve a suspension and is unavailable. The Barcelona star was booked during the team’s 2-2 draw with Uruguay, and has collected more cards than goals for his home country in the last year. Brazil have stumbled somewhat in World Cup qualifying, dropping their first match to Colombia and only managing draws with Argentina and Uruguay. That record leaves them with eight points, level with tonight’s opponent Paraguay.
Paraguay isn’t the same caliber as those three squads, but Ramon Diaz’s squad have played Brazil tough in recent years. They’ve knocked them out of the last two Copa America tournaments, and Brazil have only four wins in their last 11 visits to Paraguay. La Albirroja played Ecuador tough in their last qualifier and held the lead late, but succumbed to a late press and conceded for a 2-2 result.
