Buddy Hields half-court buzzer beater may not have counted, but Oklahoma are still ready for a deep run into this years NCCA tournament. Oklahoma is ranked sixth in the nation in BPI, and even though they were knocked off by West Virginia in the Big 12 tournament, the Sooners won by double-digits in Morgantown last month. Hield, recently named Sporting News Player of the Year, could put an exclamation point on his breakout senior year with a strong performance in March.
The second-seed Sooners will face off against WAC Champions Cal St. Bakersfield, who won their first-ever conference tournament title. The Roadrunners joined D1 basketball in 2007, and won the D2 national title three times in the 90’s.
