USC takes on Providence in a classic 8/9 matchup in the East Region. According to OddsShark, Providence enters the contest as a 2.5 point favorite despite being the 9 seed in the matchup.

USC’s marquee wins include Oregon State, Wichita State and Yale. Providence has wins against Butler (three times) and Villanova.

The OddsShark computer projects a Providence 76-66 victory. The over-under has not been set, but Heavy will update this as soon as it is released.

The FiveThirtyEight computers give Providence a 62% chance of victory.

We think Providence’s experience in the Big East will help in the tournament. Like both computers, Heavy is predicting the Friars to be victorious and likely face North Carolina in the next round.

Heavy’s Pick: Providence 70 USC 64. Providence -2.5.
