With a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line, North Carolina and Providence meet Saturday night at PNC Arena.
Both teams looked a bit shaky in the first round. The Tar Heels let No. 16 seed Florida Gulf Coast hang around for a little longer than expected, while Providence needed some missed USC free throws to pull out a dramatic last-second win on Thursday night.
Nevertheless, it’s an intriguing matchup between a pair of really athletic teams.
Tip-off is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET on TBS. You can read on for all the odds, courtesy of OddsShark:
North Carolina vs. Providence Betting Information
Spread: North Carolina (-10)
Over/Under: 151
Moneyline: Providence (+450), North Carolina (-600)
Betting Trends: Winners of six straight, the Tar Heels are 4-2 against the spread. A team that often plays down to the competition, Roy Wiliams’ squad is just 5-12-1 against the spread (18-0 overall) in games in which they’ve been favored by double-digits.
Providence, after a stretch in February in which they failed to cover in six straight games, are 5-1 against the spread in their last six. In their only game as a double-digit underdog this year, they won at Villanova, 82-76, in January.
Two teams that have lots of exciting offensive talent and like to push the pace, Carolina and Providence have, somewhat surprisingly, each hit the “under” three times in their last five games. If struggling point guards Marcus Paige and Kris Dunn can get going, though, a total of 151 should be no trouble.
