Virginia is a top seed in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season, but Tony Bennett’s team are still looking for their first Elite Eight since 1995. The difference this year could be Malcolm Brogdon, the senior guard who was named ACC Player of the Year. Virginia lost to North Carolina in the ACC tournament, but still boast a 14-4 record vs. the BPI top 50.
The Cavaliers first-round opponent is the Hampton Pirates, who dominated the MEAC this season. Hampton won both the MEAC regular season and tournament titles, and could give Virginia a tough test for a 16-seed.
