Argentina have little to play for Tuesday night in their Group D finale against Panama.
After controlling Chile in a 2-1 victory, La Albiceleste routed Bolivia in their most recent outing. At 6 points and a healthy differential, they have clinched the top spot in the group.
Regardless of tonight’s outcome, Argentina will meet Venezuela in Foxborough on Saturday night. Even if Bolivia score the upset, they will be heading home.
Bolivia played two close games at Copa America Centenario, but heartbreak came late in both matches. First it was a Blas Perez strike in the 87th against Panama, followed by a controversial penalty call against Chile that gave Vidal the late winner.
With the group on ice, Argentina manager Gerardo Martino’s main concern is keeping his team healthy for the rounds to come. Martino has stated that Lionel Messi, who is dealing with a back injury, will play against Bolivia but didn’t specify if he would start.
