The biggest moment in Cleveland sports history has finally happened. The Cleveland Cavaliers are the 2016 NBA Champions. After decades of misery, Cleveland is finally ready to celebrate.
The parade will be held this Wednesday, June 22 in downtown Cleveland. According to Cleveland.com, the parade is slated to begin at 11 a.m. Eastern. The parade will start at East 6th Street with the majority of the route taking place on East 9th.
The kickoff will take place outside Quicken Loans Arena. Click here for a map of the entire parade route.
NBA TV will begin its coverage at 11 a.m. Eastern.
Just two years after coming back to Cleveland, LeBron James has brought a championship to the city.
Mayor Frank Jackson told News Network 5 before Game 7 that the city did not want to jinx the series by planning a parade. “We have seriously not talked about it. You know, this morning we had Mayor Voinovich’s funeral. Today we have this, so you know, in due time, we’ll talk about it, at the right time,” Jackson told News 5.
It will be the first championship parade in the city’s history. There was not a parade for the 1964 Browns championship.
Here was Twitter’s reaction to the upcoming parade.
