Tonight’s all new episode of Monday Night Raw broadcasts live at 8:00 p.m. Eastern from Tampa, Florida. Read on for live updates from throughout the event, and read on below for a preview of the evening’s events written earlier this evening.
8:00 – Seth Rollins enters and starts talking about the triple threat match at Battleground. Suddenly, he brings up Roman Reigns, although he says he’s not supposed to. Rollins says the Roman Reigns scandal embarrassed him because he helped bring Reigns into the fold. He actually pulls up Roman Reigns’ Twitter statement and mocks it. “Roman Reigns has never apologized for a thing in his life, so why start now, Roman?” He also mocks Reigns for owning up to his violation after he was already caught.
Rollins goes on to say Roman Reigns does not deserve a second chance by being in the main event at Battleground, and he wants WWE to take Reigns out of the match.
Dean Ambrose enters and defends Roman Reigns, saying everyone makes mistakes. A.J. Styles comes out and weighs in, saying Battleground should remain a triple threat match…with the third challenger being Styles himself. Then John Cena appears and says why not make this a fatal fiveway?
Seth McMahon finally intervenes in this madness, deciding that Seth Rollins and John Cena will have a match this evening. A.J. Styles and Dean Ambrose will also have a match. If Cena and A.J win, they will be added to the Battleground triple threat.
8:27 – Paige & Sasha Banks defeat Charlotte & Dana Brooke after Brooke taps out.
8:38 – Titus O’Neil defeats Rusev via count out.
8:51 – Corporate Kane once again begs to be put in control of SmackDown. The Miz enters and argues with Kane over their movie appearances. Stephanie announces The Miz will defend his intercontinental championship belt tonight. Who’s he fighting? That’s a surprise…for now.
8:58 – Seth Rollins fights John Cena. Just when Cena appears to have the upper hand, The Club distracts him and Seth Rollins wins.
9:23 – Enzo & Cass fight two random jobbers in a match that lasts roughly 10 seconds. After the match, The Social Outcasts appear to intimidate Enzo & Cass, who call them sawft.
9:42 – Summer Rae is scheduled to go up against Becky Lynch, but Lynch immediately goes after Natalya, who was sitting in on commentary.
9:50 – Chris Jericho hosts a Highlight Reel segment with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Zayn says he wants to put an end to the rivalry once and for all at Battleground. Owens agrees after saying that Zayn is the one who started things and that he is a terrible friend. They both get sick of Chris Jericho and simultaneously kick him in the face.
10:10 – The Miz fights his mysterious opponent…Kane! The Miz leaves the ring to help Maryse after she pretends to be injured, and Kane wins by countout.
10:21 – Cesaro & Apollo Crews defeat Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio.
10:36 – The New Day appears, and all three members are dressed like the Wyatt Family. They say the Wyatts are spreading negativity everywhere, which they are not okay with. They proceed to roast the Wyatts and make fun of how bad they smell and how ridiculous their outfits are.
The Wyatts enter, saying that the New Day lies to people with their “power of positivity” mantra. Bray once again ominously ends the segment by saying “New Day falls.”
10:49 – Dean Ambrose fights A.J Styles. Just as Ambrose is about to defeat A.J. Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows come out to interfere, but John Cena runs out to fight them. Styles, distracted by Cena, is knocked out by Ambrose and defeated. Dean Ambrose wins.
The feud between all three former Shield members will continue on June 27th’s program, although now without the presence of Roman Reigns. The former WWE World Heavyweight champion was recently suspended for 30 days, but according to WWE.com‘s official Raw preview, it appears that he will still be participating in the triple threat match at Battleground next month. Tonight on Raw, we should expect to see more setup for that pay-per-view, only without the involvement of Reigns. How will the program explain his absence?
Plus, the feud between John Cena and The Club rolls on. Last week, Cena accused A.J. Styles of relying on the rest of The Club to do his dirty work for him, which was proven correct when Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows suddenly intervened. And on Thursday’s SmackDown, Anderson and Gallows once again helped out Styles during a match with Jimmy Uso. WWE’s official preview of June 27th’s show reads, “Perhaps Cena should call in some reinforcements to help him level the playing field.” Will Cena call on New Day to help him take on The Club?
In addition, we will likely see another confrontation between Sasha Banks and Charlotte, we’ll find out if the Wyatt Family really has a hold over The New Day, and there will surely be some more discussion of the upcoming brand split. Who’s going where? And who might serve as the showrunner of SmackDown? Let’s all hope Shane McMahon might give Corporate Kane another shot.
