The winner of the 2016 Open Championship will leave Royal Troon with one Claret Jug and one very large paycheck.
The total prize money for the third major of the year stands at £6.5 million, a £200,000 increase from last year’s tournament, while the winner is set to receive £1.175 million, which is up from Zach Johnson’s £1.15 million in 2015.
