Note: Due to concerns over field conditions, the Hall of Fame Game has been cancelled.
The Indianapolis Colts start their 2015 campaign on Sunday, when they play in their first Hall of Fame Game since 2003. Even in the early stages of the season, Chuck Pagano is using the game against the Packers to get his players ready for the season. Pagano stated earlier this week that every Colts player will participate in the Hall of Fame Game, including quarterback Andrew Luck.
For comparison, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and backup Brett Hundley will both sit out Sunday’s exhibition. Rodgers will sit for safety’s sake, while Hundley is nursing an ankle injury suffered earlier in the week.
Luck will likely appear for the team’s opening series, and will be in sweatpants by halftime. But 2016 is a big year for Luck, as he looks to bounce back from a rocky 2015 that was derailed by a multitude of injuries, including a lacerated kidney. After only starting seven games last year Luck signed a monster contract in the offseason, a six-year deal worth $140 million.
With Matt Hasselbeck retiring, the Colts need to establish their depth chart after Luck. Currently Scott Tolzien is listed as Luck’s backup, with Stephen Morris listed as the third-string option.
The Hall of Fame Game kicks off Sunday night at 8 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.
