Leonard Fournette Highlights & Recap

After a quiet first quarter in which LSU had less than two minutes of total possession, Fournette started to get going in the second quarter with this nine-yard run up the middle, which he finished in typical Fournette fashion:

That play got Fournette to 3,000 rushing yards in his LSU career, making him the fastest player in school history to reach that mark.

Wisconsin continued to bottle up Fournette for the rest of the second quarter, however, including a key fourth-and-short stop:

Somewhat appropriately, the first half ended with Fournette on the opposite side of a tackle:

After tallying just 39 rushing yards on the team’s first seven possessions, Fournette finally got going about mid-way through the third quarter, racking up 51 yards on a drive that ultimately sputtered out. The big play was a 30-yard gain to the outside, which featured one flattened defender:

Fournette then showed off his receiving skills, pulling in a 31-yard reception down the sideline to set up LSU’s first offensive score of the day:

With LSU down by two late in the fourth quarter and needing to drive the field quickly, they still weren’t afraid to put the ball in the hands of their running back, as he burst through the middle for a 15-yard gain:

He limped off the field, though, and two plays later Brandon Harris threw a horrendous interception to seal the victory for the Badgers.

The Heisman candidate was quickly ruled out with an ankle injury, so that could be a bigger story than the No. 5 Tigers’ shocking loss moving forward.
