The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers meet Sunday afternoon in a Week 3 NFC West matchup.
A heated rivalry as recently as a couple years ago, this matchup has lost steam with San Francisco’s recent decline, as the Seahawks have won the last five meetings, including two last year by a combined score of 49-16.
Nevertheless, Seattle hasn’t exactly set the league on fire the first two weeks, struggling behind a shaky offensive line en route to 15 total points and a fairly ugly 1-1 start.
“I never could have thought that we would go the first couple weeks and not score but one touchdown,” said head coach Pete Carroll. “I’m just surprised at that. We’re better than that.”
On the other side of the ball, Chip Kelly’s reign started off well with a 28-0 drubbing of the Los Angeles Rams, but the ‘Niners defense fell apart last week in a 46-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Despite the early-season struggles for both teams, the winner of Sunday’s matchup will find themselves atop the NFC West.
