The Golf Channel is broadcasting the public memorial service live and planning a full slate of Arnold Palmer tributes throughout the day on Tuesday. In addition, the family encourages fans to visit a nature reserve in honor of Palmer’s first wife, who died after a struggle with ovarian cancer.
According to WTAE, a family spokesman said: “We are encouraging people who want to pay any tribute or have any reflections to go to the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve, which provides a landscape and an environment for meditation, for leaving flowers or messages or whatever. It’s also logistically easier to get to than having anything here, with respect to traffic and congestion, which is the last thing we want to impose on the community.”
The Golf Channel encourages those who can’t attend the memorial in person to “congregate at their local golf course to watch with fellow fans of The King and post a photo on social media with the hashtag, #ArniesArmy,” said MyGolfDaily.
