Eight games are on the NBA schedule for Sunday, beginning with the Cavaliers facing the 76ers in Philadelphia. The Sixers will have starting center Joel Embiid available for the game, as he sat out Friday’s home loss to the Bulls with it being a regularly scheduled day of rest. Embiid’s been the best rookie in the NBA thus far, a source of hope for a fan base that seen more than its fair share of losses in recent years. Sunday’s game against Cleveland will be a challenge, but keep in mind that the first meeting between the two teams went down to the wire.
Cleveland won that game by a single point, with LeBron James pacing the Cavs with 25 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds while Embiid accounted for 22 points, six rebounds and four blocks in a losing effort. And while Nerlens Noel and Ben Simmons remain sidelined due to injury, Philadelphia has managed to improve its rotation by trading for Ersan Ilyasova and Jerryd Bayless returning from injury.
Another game worth watching Sunday is Portland hosting Houston, with two of the NBA’s best guards in Damian Lillard and James Harden being the headliners. This is the second meeting of the season between the Rockets and Blazers, with Houston winning 126-109 with Harden tallying 26 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds in what was (at the time) his third triple-double of the season.
