Friday’s nine-game NBA slate includes two that will be shown on ESPN, beginning with the New York Knicks visiting the Chicago Bulls. That means Knicks point guard Derrick Rose returns home to play for the first time since being traded from the Bulls to the Knicks this summer. Yet while this deal has worked out thus far for the Bulls, with Robin Lopez serving as the anchor in the middle and Jerian Grant providing some minutes off the bench, the Knicks have struggled.
New York is just 1-3 on the season, with their struggles on the defensive end of the floor being a big reason why. And with Dwyane Wade, Jimmy Butler and the rest of the Bulls off to a good start to the season, they could make this homecoming a rough one for Rose if the Knicks don’t put forth greater effort and execution defensively. In the second game of the doubleheader Golden State heads south to take on the Lakers at Staples Center, with the Warriors coming off of an intense game against Oklahoma City the night before.
