WWE Roadblock: End of the Line: Matches & Predictions

SmackDown Live presented its fanbase with a night chock full of crushed tables, bent ladders and scattered steel chairs.

Now that TLC 2016 has come to a close, Raw is taking its biggest battles onto the “road” for the last WWE PPV of the year. Roadblock: End of the Line looks like it’s going to bring a close to every current feud. Sasha Banks and Charlotte will engage in another title match for the Red Brand’s Women’s Championship. But this rematch will be held under 30-minute Iron Man rules. Seth Rollins will take on the current Universal Champion’s former best buddy Chris Jericho. And two of Raw’s major men’s title holders will clash for the WWE Universal Championship – title holder Kevin Owens vs. United States Champion Roman Reigns.

It’s time for our monthly WWE PPV predictions breakdown, so let’s get into what we think’s gonna happen at Roadblock: End of the Line.

Big Cass vs. Rusev (with Lana)

Predictions & Winner: Rusev and Lana have dealt with Enzo’s antics for a good while now. And they’ve usually began with a ton of flirting from Enzo towards Rusev’s lady and ended with Rusev dominating the slick talker afterwards. After getting dominated by the Russian brute for so long, it seems as if Enzo has decided to call in some help from Big Cass. Enzo has fought hard to prove himself against Rusev, but it’s been all for naught. Big Cass’ chances of ending Rusev’s crusade against his lil’ buddy are high. This one’s gonna erupt into a hard-hitting matchup between two of Raw’s strongest Superstars. We think Cass is gonna lay into Rusev just enough to walk away with the win. And right after the final bell has rung, Enzo will get in a few good licks on Rusev and thoroughly disrespect his old lady.

Rich Swann (c) vs. T.J. Perkins vs. The Brian Kendrick (Triple Threat Match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship)

Predictions & Winner: Swann’s turned into one of the more favorable Cruiserweight members of WWE’s roster. He’s graduated from NXT competitor to CWC entrant all the way to the champion of his desired weight class. He claimed the Cruiserweight Championship by beating back the former champion, The Brian Kendrick. Swann’s been on a roll lately since he’s gotten some legit pins over Kendrick and even T.J. Perkins. Since those two have been at the forefront of the division since it’s revival, it makes sense for them to be included in this Triple Threat Match. We think this one’s gonna go a bit longer than most of the matches involving the smaller Superstars on Raw’s roster. It’s gonna be quite the fast-paced, back-and-forth match that’ll feature the type of moments we’re used to seeing on the Indy circuit. Swann still has a coat of freshness on him as Cruiserweight Champion, so we don’t see him dropping it so soon here.

Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho

Predictions & Winner: Rollins has been screwed countless times by the diabolical (and immensely entertaining) duo of Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. At this PPV, Owens is busy contending with Rollins’ running buddy Roman Reigns. Which leaves Owens’ on-and-off mate Jericho to deal with their Rollins problem. Rollins and Y2J tend to make whoever they’re in the ring with look just as good as they are, so we can already imagine how good this match will turn out with both men involved. This match’s predicted winner is easy for us to call out – Jericho will pull out every dirty trick on his other “List,” but it will all fail and cause him to eat a finishing Pedigree from Rollins.

The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, and/or Xavier Woods) (c) vs. Cesaro and Sheamus (WWE Raw Tag Team Championship)

Predictions & Winners: NEW DAY BAYBEEEEEE! They managed to surpass Demolition’s record as the longest-running WWE Tag Team Champions of all time. They got through four teams in just ONE night during their record-breaking title run. During the Tribute to the Troops, Cesaro and Sheamus became the victors of a Fatal 4-Way Match and got another chance at The New Day. So here’s the thing – The New Day are an incredible unit who’ve put on great matches and hilarious promo segments. They’re the lifeblood of Raw. But it’s gotten to a point where they’ve now grown just a lil’ bit stale, so it might be time to cut their title reign short and put them on another creative path. This is why we think Cesaro and Sheamus will finally wrestle the Tag Team titles from The New Day in a shocking upset. Since The New Day already broke the tag team championship record, it makes sense for them to drop the straps and give another team the chance to have a good title run.

Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman

Predictions & Winner: Now that Zayn has finally gotten himself some much deserved Raw TV time, it’s led to one of the more underrated storylines of 2016. Braun Strowman has rode a new wave of squash matches into his new status as the Red Brand’s most intimidating competitor. Zayn has tried to prove himself against the giant, but Mick Foley has butted in from time to time to end the smaller Superstar’s punishment at the hands of Strowman. This has pissed of Zayn and led to him losing confidence in the man he once looked up to. But now, Zayn has gotten the rematch he’s wanted all along. This won’t be your usual squash match; Strowman will no doubt butcher Zayn for several moments, but Zayn will shock the world and make the most epic of comebacks. Expect Zayn to pull out an incredibly shocking win over Strowman, but you should also expect Strowman to exact quick vengeance on Zayn right after the match’s done.

Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (30–Minute Iron Man Match for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship)

Predictions & Winner: Banks did it again! She managed to rip the Raw Women’s Championship out of the grasp of Charlotte. This never ending feud has given us some of the best matches of 2016, which is why we’re not exactly tired of seeing them facing each other again. But this time, they’ll engage in a game of one-upmanship during a 30-minute Iron Man Match. We can totally see Charlotte getting a solid lead over Banks during the early portions of this title encounter. We think she’ll even get herself purposely disqualified by using a weapon on Banks, just so she can weaken her for the next pinfall/submission. But when it seems like all is lost for the champ, Banks will get a number of winning pinfalls/submissions on her score card and tie things up with her challenger. When the time limit finally runs out, Banks will be the one with that extra point over Charlotte. Banks will DEFINITELY retain here!

Kevin Owens (c) vs. Roman Reigns (WWE Universal Championship)

Predictions & Winner: Champion vs. Champion. The current US title holder will attempt to defeat Kevin Owens for his Universal Championship. Roman Reigns is set to head into this match and leave it as a double champion, while Owens is dead set on making sure he leaves Roadblock with his title intact. We’ve seen this match before, so we’re not too excited to see it go down once more. But we figure the main event spot we’re expecting them to be placed in will make them put on something better than their past work. Everyone and their grandmother should expect plenty of outside shenanigans during this title match. Jericho will run out and so will Rollins, which will lead to Owens and Reigns fighting off whomever gets in their way. Amidst all this madness, Owens will take advantage (as usual) and screw over the US Champion. Owens retains here to the surprise of no one.
