The University of Kansas men’s basketball program announced late Thursday night that it had suspended sophomore Carlton Bragg Jr. indefinitely.
Rob Dauster of NBC Sports reports that Bragg’s suspension is due to a violation of team rules, but the exact details of the circumstances have not been released.
Head coach Bill Self did take extra care to specify that the suspension is in no way related to the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl at the team dorm last month. Bragg is one of the players who were listed as witnesses for the ongoing investigation into those allegations, however.
While this is the first formal discipline that Bragg has received in his collegiate career, he was held out of the game against Nebraska on December 10 because he was accused of domestic violence. Those allegations were dropped, however, when video evidence surfaced that indicated his accuser was lying.
Bragg, playing in a primary reserve role, has been averaging 15 minutes on the court so far this season, with 6.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in that time on average. The Jayhawks’ next game is on Saturday at No. 4 Kentucky.
