Raiders vs. Texans History and Head-to-Head Record

The Raiders are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2002, and they’ll be in Houston on Saturday to face the Texans. The Texans are AFC South champions for the second consecutive season, but they’ve never advanced past the divisional round in franchise history.

Despite the Texans brief existence as a franchise, the Texans and Raiders have been frequent opponents. This is the 15th season in Houston Texans franchise history, and Saturday will be the 11th meeting between these teams. The Raiders are Houston’s most frequent non-divisional opponent, narrowly edging the Bengals (9).

The Texans and Raiders played in Mexico City earlier this year, in what ended up being one of the best primetime games of the season.

In front of a pro-Raiders crowd at Estadio Azteca, Derek Carr led his team down the field twice for 14 fourth quarter points and a 27-20 win. The Texans attempted to drive and run the clock on the Raiders, but a bad a few bad ball spots made the ending slightly controversial.

Carr won’t be the man for Oakland on Saturday, as Connor Cook makes his first NFL start in the postseason. He is the first QB to make his debut in the playoffs in the Super Bowl era. After being on the bench for two weeks, Brock Osweiler will once again start for Houston.
