Cavaliers vs. Pacers Prediction
The first meeting between these teams this season, also at the Fieldhouse, saw the Pacers come away with a 103-93 victory, but it’s fair to largely ignore that result as LeBron James was out (rest).
Still, it’s hard not to like Indiana in this one. Not only are the Cavs coming off a physically-draining overtime win over the Wizards on Monday night (James, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson and Kyrie Irving all played 40-plus minutes), but the Pacers are one of the hottest teams in the NBA with seven wins in a row, a streak that includes home victories over the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Moreover, speaking of the Pacers at the Fieldhouse, they own the NBA’s third-best record at home (20-6) and have lost just one game there since the start of the new year.
The potential absence of Thaddeus Young looms large for the Pacers, but their own “Big 3”–Paul George, Myles Turner and Jeff Teague–were plus-14 when on the court together during the last meeting (by far their best three-man combo), and they should be able to hold down the fort at home.
Prediction: Pacers 107, Cavaliers 103
