No contract has been discussed more during the NFL off-season than Brock Osweiler. It is so bad the Houston Texans just traded him to the Browns and sent along a second round draft pick in exchange for the Browns taking on his deal. The deal is a salary cap dump that is uncommon in the NFL but common in other leagues like the NBA.

According to Spotrac, Osweiler has a 4-year, $72 million contract. He is set to make $16 million next season. While it is a bad deal, it is not as bad as it looks. Only $37 million of the deal is guaranteed which includes his first year salary (a total of $12 million) the Texans have already paid.

If he is not released, Osweiler would make $18 million in 2018 and $13 million in 2019.

According to ESPN, the Browns only did the deal to acquire the second round draft pick. Cleveland is poised to release Osweiler if they are not able to trade him.

Osweiler did not have the kind of season the Texans were hoping when they signed him to the massive contract. Osweiler was 301-of-510 for $2,957, 15 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
