Champions League action resumes on Tuesday, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs are on the brink of elimination. Arsenal host Bayern facing a four-goal deficit, and the Gunners, along with Barcelona, could see an early exit from the competition this week.
With Barcelona falling, the race for European supremacy widens. There is still a chance they ignore the 0-4 hole and thrash PSG on Wednesday, but for odds purposes, they’re currently on the outside looking in.
According to Bovada, Bayern are the current betting favorites to win the competition at +275. Defending champions Real Madrid trail at +400, with PSG and Juventus both valued at +600. The fifth favorite is Atletico Madrid (+700), who were a finalist last year and lead Leverkusen 4-2 after one leg. Should you fancy Barcelona to come back and win the whole thing, they are currently a value at +4000.
If we’re looking at domestic success, Monaco are leading Ligue 1 in France but trail Manchester City after one leg. Juventus, who eight points ahead of the pack in Serie A, have a 2-0 lead on Porto heading into the second leg.
From the odds and from the play on the field, it looks like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are on a collision course to the final in Cardiff. It would be the third final in four years for Madrid, and Bayern’s fourth final since 2010. The teams have been paired in the semifinals twice in the last five years, with the teams splitting the series in four entertaining matches.
