J Boys Echo is the winner of the 2017 Gotham Stakes. The horse entered the race with 8-1 odds, but was not the favorite. El Areeb entered the race as the favorite but could not do better than third.
El Areeb was looking to win his fifth straight race and looked in control for much of the Gotham. J Boys Echo made a last minute push at the end and the burst was good enough to pull away from the other horses. J Boys Echo receives 50 points towards the Road to the Kentucky Derby standings.
Cloud Computing earned 20 points while El Areeb finished with 10 points. Action Everyday rounds out the field with five points.
