WWE ‘SmackDown Live’ Recap: Match Results & Spoilers April 4th

Smackdown Live, Smackdown Live john cena, john cena return

John Cena proposed to his girlfriend Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 33. (WWE)

SmackDown Live just wrapped up a brand new episode on the USA Network. Here’s what happened this week:

8:00 – Randy Orton enters. He says that he beat Bray Wyatt’s ass at WrestleMania. He also says that Bray Wyatt seems to think he has power over him, but on Sunday, Orton proved that he is the master.

Bray Wyatt appears on the screen. He says that Orton is the master of nothing and that the era of Wyatt has only just begun. He also says that he is coming to take what his rightfully his, and what “she” promised him (presumably, he means Sister Abigail). Before his rematch, though, he has something special planned for Randy Orton. He wants to fight in a different kind of match, something that will push Orton’s mind and body to the limit and that will change Orton’s perspective on the world. At the end of it, one of them will be sentenced to eternal damnation. He explains that this will be a “House of Horrors” match.

Orton says he doesn’t know what that is, but he accepts the challenge anyway.

8:10 – Bray Wyatt enters. He goes after Randy Orton, and he’s suddenly joined by Erick Rowan, who helps him attack Orton. But then Luke Harper enters and attacks Bray Wyatt.

8:12 – Backstage, The Miz says that only John Cena would use a proposal and turn it into a WrestleMania moment for marketing purposes. He and Maryse also say that the only reason John Cena proposed was because they forced him into a corner.

8:21 – Naomi defeats Alexa Bliss and retains the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

8:38 – Curtis Axel issues an open challenge to anyone in the locker room. Tye Dillinger enters and accepts.

8:39 – Tye Dillinger defeats Curtis Axel.

8:48 – Backstage, Mojo Rawley says that winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was a dream come true and that this whole thing has been unreal. He says that he and Gronk have been partying all week and they wonder what it would have been like if Andre the Giant was there.

8:55 – John Cena’s theme song starts, but instead, The Miz enters dressed as John Cena. Maryse also enters dressed as Nikki Bella.

The Miz as John Cena tells Maryse as Nikki Bella that he proposed to her at WrestleMania because it would make him seem like a more relatable human being. He also says that effective immediately, they are leaving WWE and going to Hollywood.

Suddenly, Shinsuke Nakamura enters. The crowd goes wild for him. During his entrance, The Miz and Maryse leave. By the time the entrance is over, the show goes to commercial, and that’s it for Nakamura.

9:11 – Baron Corbin defeats Dean Ambrose in a street fight match. This wasn’t for the Intercontinental Championship, though.

9:29 – Shane McMahon enters. Addressing the superstar shake up, he says that superstars on the Raw roster should be praying they end up on SmackDown, because this is the land of opportunity.

AJ Styles enters. He says that he doesn’t want to go to Raw because SmackDown Live is the house that AJ built, and he’ll be damned if someone is going to try to take that from him. AJ Styles then says he owes Shane McMahon something: he extends a handshake, and they both shake hands. Styles for a moment acts like he’s going to bunch Shane, but it’s a fakeout, and AJ and Shane smile at each other as if they’re buddies.

9:42 – Luke Harper and Randy Orton defeat Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan. At the end of the match, Bray Wyatt teleports out of the ring, presumably to avoid getting pinned, but then Erick Rowan just ends up being the one to get pinned.
