WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will face Braun Strowman in his next feud.
This was revealed on the Monday Night Raw show airing the day after WrestleMania. In a segment in the second hour, Brock Lesnar entered with Paul Heyman, and Heyman said that Lesnar is looking for new challengers now that Goldberg is gone.
Heyman specifically called out Roman Reigns, saying that the two people who have beaten The Undertaker at WrestleMania should fight next. The entire crowd in Orlando, Florida seemed very against this idea, chanting “We want Balor!” (Finn Balor would later show up at the end of the show, but not to face Brock Lesnar.)
Just when it seemed that Roman Reigns was about to enter, Braun Strowman came out. Strowman said that Brock Lesnar got his attention, and now, to get Brock Lesnar’s attention, Strowman says he’s going to destroy Roman Reigns. Brock Lesnar placed the Universal Championship title down in the ring, and he was ready to fight right there, right then. But instead, Braun Strowman left, not engaging Lesnar in a match at Raw.
Lesnar will clearly be facing Braun Strowman as his next feud based on this segment, but it appears this won’t happen right away. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Braun Strowman will be facing Roman Reigns at Payback, the next WWE pay-per-view.
So what about Brock Lesnar? Well, the Wrestling Observer reports this week that Lesnar is not expected to defend the Universal Championship at Payback.
It seems that the plan, then, is for Braun Strowman to first go after Roman Reigns and then, after Payback, target Brock Lesnar, perhaps having defeated Roman Reigns and therefore gaining Lesnar’s attention.
Clearly, though, a Lesnar vs. Reigns feud is also being set up, and the current rumor is that this will be the main event of WrestleMania 33.
