Premier League Table: Chelsea Clinch League Title With Win

(Getty)

With a win over West Brom on Friday, Chelsea will be clinch their fifth Premier League title.

It’s been a weird turnaround for Chelsea, who stumbled last year and finished tenth. Even after the magical season of Leicester, Chelsea were the favorite to reclaim the title at the start of this season.

With the title wrapped up, the drama shifts lower in the table. The biggest remaining match of the season could be on Sunday, when Spurs play their last fixture at White Hart Lane against United. Spurs have been playing at that location since 1899, and will play home fixtures at Wembley Stadium next season while their new venue is finished. It’s an emotional night for Spurs fans, but a must-win fixture for Manchester United. Two points in their last three league matches have sent United four points out of the top four, putting their return to Europe in doubt. United still have a Europa League final against Ajax at the end of May, and the drop gives a streaking Arsenal team a chance to creep into the top tier of the table.

At the bottom, Hull and Swansea are clawing to escape the final relegation spot. One point separates the two teams with two matches remaining, but Swansea have the favorable schedule heading into next Sunday’s finale.
