Saturday is going to be a busy day at Churchill Downs.
While the Kentucky Derby is obviously the headliner, there are 14 races total on the Derby Day card, including two other Grade-1 stakes–the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic and Humana Distaff–and six other graded stakes in total.

Preview
Outside of the Kentucky Derby, the two most lucrative races on the day will be the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic and the Churchill Downs Stakes, both of which feature a purse of $500,000.
The former, which goes right before the Derby and is considered the “co-main event,” should be a compelling race. Divisidero, who will be ridden by Julien Leparoux, looks to become just the third horse in history to win this race in back-to-back years, but he’ll have plenty of challengers in the stacked field, including last year’s second-place finisher, World Approval.
The third Grade-1 race on the card–behind the Derby and the Woodford Reserve–is the $300,000 Humana Distaff. That one will have a number of big names in the field, including Finest City, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, and Carina Mia, who took down the Grade-2 Eight Belles at Churchill Downs last year.
Other favorites to watch include three-time graded stakes winner Masochistic (Churchill Downs), three-time Grade-1 winner Miss Temple City (Churchill Distaff Turf Mile), La Coronel (American Turf) and Local Hero (Pat Day Mile).
