Germany face a real test Thursday against Chile.
In a group with Australia and Cameroon, Chile and Germany just might be the two best teams in the tournament. Chile are two-time Copa America champions, and they stifled Cameroon in their opener. Unfortunately for Chile, they won’t have their best roster available for this tournament.
Keeper Claudio Bravo is dealing with a calf injury, and it could keep him out of the entire tournament. Bravo was stretchered off the field during Premier League action on April 27, marking the end of a disappointing season in England for Bravo.
Bravo is out, but Alexis Sanchez is working his way back into the lineup. Sanchez is dealing with an ankle injury, but was subbed on during the second half against Cameroon.
This Germany squad is full of young players, and their inexperience almost reared it’s head against Australia. After jumping out ahead 3-1, Tomi Juric scored for the Aussies, putting the result in doubt in the final minutes. Germany manager Joachim Low has several uncapped players on his roster, leaving out bigger names like injured keeper Manuel Neuer.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Eastern, and lineups will be posted one hour before kickoff.
