Preview
Youth takes on experience Thursday night in the biggest matchup of Group B.

Instead of the normal faces, the squad that Germany manager Joachim Low brought to Russia is the youngest in the tournament. With an average age of under 25 years old, it’s a good opportunity for some of the nation’s junior talent to get top-level experience. Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller have been given a vacation, while newer names like Emre Can, Julian Draxler and Joshua Kimmich lead the charge.

On the other side, Chile have brought all their biggest names to Confederations Cup. The two-time defending Copa America champions have the oldest team in the tournament, averaging at 29 years young, but are looking to make a statement in Russia. Chile were eliminated in penalties by Brazil at the 2014 World Cup, and have a generation that will seriously contest for glory next year. Led by Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal, Chile have a physical team that can play with anyone in the world. It may only be the youngsters, but beating Germany would be a huge step forward for analysts considering Chile as a World Cup contender.

Chile handled Cameroon 2-0 in their opener, while Germany held off Australia 3-2. Australia scored in the second half to cut the lead to one, but could not muster a tying goal in the final minutes. With both teams starting with three points, both seem headed for the playoff rounds next weekend.

Kickoff starts at 2 p.m. Eastern and can be seen on Fox Sports 1. Stay here for live highlights throughout the match, including video of every goal.
