The 2017 Tour de France is quickly nearing completion, and one rider will soon earn a lofty paycheck for his three weeks of grueling work.
With the 104th edition of the famed race featuring a reported purse of €2,280,950 (roughly £2,046,000 or $2,653,000), the man who dons the yellow jersey into Paris will receive €500,000 (roughly £448,000 or $581,000) in addition to a nice glass of champagne.

There are also prize payouts for each stage, with the winner of each road stage or individual time trial taking home €11,000 (roughly £9,900 or $12,800). Second place gets €5,500 (roughly £4,9500 or $6,400), while the top 20 finishers are all paid out on a decreasing scale.
Additionally, the daily yellow jersey wearer receives €500 (roughly roughly £450 or $580), while the other jersey wearers receive €300 (roughly roughly £270 or $350).
