At WWE’s Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view tonight, a new voice was heard on commentary during the Cruiserweight Championship match. That voice belonged to Vic Joseph, who is not normally one of the commentators on Monday Night Raw. So who exactly is Vic Joseph?
Vic Joseph is an NXT live event announcer who made his debut as a commentator on WWE Main Event back in May. Joseph provides commentary on that show alongside Corey Graves.
In May, Joseph said in an interview that he was very nervous about his debut on Main Event and that he would never forget the experience of calling his first match that night.
“I really tried to keep my emotions in check, and I had a lot of help from everybody on the announce team that has helped me get to where I am now, so I just hope that what I did did justice for our team,” Joseph said back in May.
According to WWE.com, Vic Joseph is from Cleveland, Ohio, and he has a background covering football for Cleveland Browns Network and 92.3 The Fan.
“As someone who has experience navigating the Cleveland Browns’ famed ‘Dawg Pound,’ Joseph knows what it takes to perform in front of boisterous crowds, making him a perfect fit for NXT,” his WWE.com profile says.
Before WWE, Joseph worked as an announcer for House of Hardcore, a wrestling promotion founded by Tommy Dreamer. He was hired by the WWE back in January. A few months later, he made his debut on WWE Main Event, and in June, he made his debut on 205 Live, the Cruiserweight show that airs on the WWE Network. Joseph replaced Tom Phillips on 205 Live beginning on June 13th.
On his Twitter page, Vic Joseph identifies himself as a gamer, a movie buff, and a golfer.
