As Green Bay Packers and New York Jets fans anxiously wait for a decision from superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers about a potential trade, former teammate Davante Adams took to social media to vent about the whole situation.
With the legal tampering period of NFL free agency beginning on Monday, March 13, fans were expecting an announcement about a possible Rodgers trade on the same day. Instead, conflicting reports continued to surface throughout the day, while another suggested that Rodgers is trying to recruit free agents to New York.
With so much noise on Monday, Adams took to Instagram with a cryptic post implying that people were reaching out to him trying to figure out what was going on with his former teammate.
“If we haven’t talked in the last 3 weeks don’t hit me about this sh-t,” Adams posted. “Thanks.”
Adams later took to Twitter to calm people down, while also supporting his new quarterback with the Las Vegas Raiders in Jimmy Garoppolo.
“Don’t make too much of it…phone dry then here comes everybody tryna get the inside scoop,” Adams tweeted. “Sh-t is annoying thats it. Jimmy get’s get this.”
With everyone trying to get the inside scoop on Rodgers and his decision, Adams is trying to focus on himself and his new teammate as the Raiders try to make a run in the AFC in 2023.
An Eventual Week of Aaron Rodgers News
While Adams may not have the inside scoops, the reality is that Rodgers is much closer to becoming a member of the Jets than he was just a week ago.
News surfaced the week prior to Adams’ social media posts that Rodgers had met with the Jets, confirming that Green Bay and New York had entered into trade discussions surrounding the four-time MVP. However, the trade discussions were taking place despite no official decision from Rodgers about his future.
The trade speculation has ramped up even further when Packers president Mark Murphy suggested publicly that the Packers were ready to move on from the 39-year-old quarterback. Meanwhile, Rodgers attended a celebrity flag football game on Saturday, March 11, and spoke to former Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall telling him that a decision would be coming soon.
All reports and rumors continue to point towards Rodgers playing for the Jets in 2023. However, until a trade is formally announced, the speculation on any and every bit of news will continue through the start of NFL free agency.
Davante Adams is Still Thriving in Las Vegas
It may have been a season to forget for the Raiders, but Adams still showed the rest of the league why is one of the most dangerous wide receivers in the league.
After a dominant stretch with the Packers, Adams came to Las Vegas and didn’t skip a beat. Despite some inconsistency at the quarterback position, Adams finished the year with 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns, making his sixth Pro Bowl and third straight first-team All-Pro selection.
Now, Adams will have to establish a connection quickly with a new quarterback. Derek Carr is gone and playing for the New Orleans Saints, while Jarrett Stidham signed a deal with the Denver Broncos. The star receiver will instead be catching passes from Garoppolo, who signed a three-year, $72.5 million deal with Las Vegas.
Garoppolo may not be as dominant of a quarterback as Rodgers, but Adams showed last year that he’s still going to thrive regardless of who is throwing him the ball.
